Wellness Shots: My Favourite Mix for Digestion, Inflammation, and Immune Support

I’ve tried so many different immune shots over the years—some were great, and others, well… not so much. But after a lot of trial and error, I’ve landed on my absolute favorite mix.

It’s one of those things where consistency really pays off. My partner, who initially called these shots a little too woo-woo for him, now asks me to make them on a regular basis! That’s how you know they work.

Why These Shots Are Worth Trying

These little powerhouses are quick to make, packed with benefits, and can help with:

  • Indigestion

  • Low appetite in the morning

  • Poor or inconsistent bowel movements

  • Inflammation & inflammatory conditions (like endometriosis)

  • Gut & digestive issues (such as leaky gut)

  • Strengthening the immune system

  • Recovering faster from a cold or flu

  • Reducing the risk of getting sick

Plus, they’re a great way to wake up your digestive system in the morning—kind of like hitting the reset button for your gut and immune health.

The Ingredients That Make It Happen

Here’s why this combination works so well:

1. Turmeric

Turmeric is famous for its anti-inflammatory properties, thanks to its active compound, curcumin. It helps calm inflammation in the body, making a big difference for things like endometriosis, gut irritation, or even general aches and pains.

2. Ginger

Ginger is a superstar for digestion. It helps with nausea, stimulates digestive juices, and improves gut motility (basically, it keeps things moving!). It’s also anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial, which means it’s great for your immune system.

3. Black Pepper

Black pepper might not seem like a big deal, but it’s the key to unlocking turmeric’s potential. It contains piperine, which increases curcumin absorption by up to 2,000%! Without it, you’re missing out on a lot of turmeric’s benefits.

4. Orange & Lemon

Fresh orange and lemon juice bring a powerful dose of vitamin C and antioxidants to support your immune system. The citrus flavor also brightens up the mix and makes it way more enjoyable to drink.

5. Sea Salt

High-quality Himalayan or Celtic sea salt provides essential minerals that help with electrolyte balance—especially helpful if you’re feeling run-down or your appetite is low in the mornings.

6. Local Raw Honey

Honey adds just the right amount of sweetness while also offering antimicrobial benefits to support your immune system. Plus, raw honey is a natural prebiotic, which your gut bacteria love.

The Perfect Mix

makes 8-10 servings (~3tbs/serving)

Ingredients:

  • 2 thumbs fresh ginger, peeled

  • 2 thumbs fresh turmeric, peeled

  • 1 whole navel orange, peeled

  • Juice of 6 lemons (small-medium)

  • Just a crack or two of black pepper

  • 1/2 tsp high-quality Himalayan or Celtic sea salt

  • 1 tbsp local raw honey

Method:

  1. Throw everything into a blender and blend until smooth.

  2. Pour into a glass, give it a stir, and enjoy!

Tip: If you’re not a fan of pulp, you can strain it before drinking—but I usually keep it as is for the extra fiber!

How to Make It a Daily Habit

  • Batch Prep: Make a double or triple batch and store it in a jar in the fridge. Just shake it up before drinking. You can even freeze in ice-cube trays

  • Morning Routine: Drink it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach to wake up your digestive system and give your body a natural boost.

  • Start Slow: If you’re not used to strong flavours, start with smaller amounts of turmeric and ginger and work your way up, or add the shot to about 1 cup of water for a milder taste.

The Bottom Line

This wellness shot has become a staple in my routine—and for good reason. Whether you’re looking to improve your digestion, reduce inflammation, or keep your immune system strong, it’s a simple and natural way to give your body the support it needs.

If you give it a try, I’d love to hear what you think! Leave a note in the comments below :)
